Cirque De Pegler!  Circus School!

This year at EPPS we are embarking on a new journey, teaching physical literacy and resiliency through the circus arts.  Mrs. Reschke and Mrs. Coady are teaching the unit together with an emphasis on the performing arts and body awareness and movement.  Mrs. Reschke began taking the online recreational coaching courses in October until the middle of February, where she travelled to the National Circus School in Montreal to complete an intensive 7 day live training sessions around juggling, acrobatics, aerials, balance, social circus with at risk youth, as well as the safety and rigging of equipment.

EPPS was excited to have Spectacle Blue, our local circus program, in for one week, to teach students the basics of aerial trapeze, hoop and silk.  The students also gained experience on a tight wire, juggling, and basic acrobatics, hand to hand and pyramids.  To celebrate our learning, a school wide video was created and shown to the students at the end of the unit.

This is just the beginning of Cirque de Pegler, as Mrs. Coady and Mrs. Reschke intend to continue teaching skills through the circus arts next year and beyond.
